Memories of Cathy Harrington
I remember a cold Novenber Sunday afternoon. The wind was blowing gently, enogh so as to wear jackets to stay warm. We had had our first date and I wanted to see you again as soon as possible....Sunsday was it. We took a walk aroun your neighborhood, held hands..awkward moments but moments that still stay wiyh me after all these years. We laid on a small hill, partly to hide from the wind snd partly to hide from the children playing on the other side. I remember your hans being so small in mine...I felt like I was King of the Hill if just for thst moment. We had many moments that far outweigh the bad that ever happened beteween us...I must say that I haqve been looking for you to simply say That I am so sorry for the things said and written out of my hurt and hate. Your words were neither, just "you need help Jack. You need to talk with someone. I am sorry your having trouble dealing with our breakup. I wish you well..." Needless to say I had some growing up to do and things to figure out... My hurt and anger I have learned was more about me than you...and what happened between us needed to in order for both of us to grow into the people we are today. My wish for you is that all has been good and wonderful snd thst you have known nothing but happiness. My life has turned out not like I thought it would...married 35 years, 3 sons, 3 grandchildren, a wonderful career as a crisis counselor in a high school for the past 20 + yrs. Before that, a Parole Officer for the State of Missouri for 10 + yrs...and of course 3 yrs in the Army where I found myself looking in a mirror one day and waking up to the fact that I was the One to hol responsible for what happened between us. You were my first love and you will always be their in my heart...my heart has grown alot...just so sorry for saying such terrible things to you and I always wanted to just see you to ask for your forgiveness. If not I understand....maybe one day our paths will cross again...:) Later Girl Jack
